EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVES NEW ASSESSMENT MODEL The Finance Committee presented to the Executive Council its final recommendation on a new Assessment Model for the Diocese of Dallas after several months of study, review and financial modeling. Acting under the authority granted in Canon 35, the new plan was adopted without a negative vote. An explanation of the new plan is now posted on the Diocesan website. Copies will be sent to each parish and mission. The new plan will be described in detail at each of the Convocation meetings. In the presentation to the Executive Council, the Treasurer noted that the primary goals of the Committee were to produce a plan that would (1) reduce the amount the most parishes and mission now pay as their Diocesan giving; (2) simplify the overall plan; (3) eliminate the “three year moving average feature; and (4) make it more mission-focused. Had the new plan been in effect over the last 5 years, total assessments would have been reduced by $2.2 million.
